Pensions: The Unsolved Mysteries

Pensions: The Unsolved Mysteries

Interesting article on Pension funds coming out of their traditional low-risk profiles and adopting riskier alternative investments. Will University endowments go the same route?

This is a trend that we are seeing in the Financial Industry. Managed Futures funds are making a killing because Pension Funds, and Endowment trusts are competing with more and more passive investment vehicles which are outpacing their risk-adjusted annualized returns.

Let's be honest here, so long as the risk disclosure is made there is no reason why alternative investment vehicles such as Managed Futures, and Passive Funds, and Funds of Funds, are used.

This is a necessary transition in the industry. Let's just hope the regulators don't "Find a Problem" in the short-term.
